Thoughts & life experiences of a Chicago area graphic artist

Carharrt

Me in my Carharrt Jacket circa 1985 in Barrington, Illinois.

My daughter recently acquired a classic Carharrt jacket which she tells me is fashionable these days.

"I had a Carharrt jacket back in the day!" I tell her. "I have a picture of me in it somewhere." She is politely impressed.

After a bit of a search I find the picture. A wreath of nostalgia envelopes me and seeing my younger self in the photo is a poignant, bittersweet reminder of the unyielding passage of time.

It reminds me of my dad who gave me the jacket. It reminds me of the two brothers I was with when the photo was taken on an early Spring day in the Chicago Northwest Suburbs. I can't remember what we were doing that day. I had moved to the Chicago area just three years prior.

By the end of the 80s I would be married. And a couple of years later, my daughter who told me about her Carharrt jacket would be born.

And now you are reading this post and might be thinking about how time is passing in your life.

By the way, I had to do a Google search to be reminded how the brand "Carharrt" is spelled.

Another jacket story....
