Bernadine was born on June 29, 1925, near Marion, IL to Chessley Wade "Carl" Radford and Clara Copher Radford. She married Rue Edward Jennings on May 26, 1946. They enjoyed almost 47 years of marriage. Bernadine was preceded in death by her husband Rue, brother Donald and sister Maralee.

Mom and my Dad (he passed in 1993) are together now. They were devoted to one another for nearly half a century. As I celebrate loving memories of my Mom, I share this video I made years ago to commemorate her and my Dad’s lives together.

Condolences from friends and former students (as seen on her official obituary page) :

She will be missed! She was the best teacher any one could have and one of the better people any one can meet in a life time. Godspeed Mrs. Jennings! 'Til we meet on the other side of the clouds. I'm sorry. If I knew she was still around I would stopped in to see her.

That warm smile. I remember her kindness sitting & waiting for my parents to pick me up, running a bit late. She knew just how to comfort a worried child. Much of the reason I became a teacher was bc I wanted to calm students just like she did. I'm sad to hear of her death. My condolences to the family.

Bernadine was a very special woman, she was always so kind, loving and went out of her way to be that kind of person. I'm glad she got to stay here on this earth with her beloved family for so long. Now, you all will have to wait to join her in her permanent home. Prayers and blessings to you, Martin and Christie, and the rest of the family also.

Although 61 years ago, I immediately recognized the name, Mrs. Jennings, and that gentle face and warming smile. I was 4 when I started kindergarten at Leiter School and remember being scared and crying on the stepsleading into school. I soon got over my fears due to Mrs. Jennings comfort and kindness. Thank you, Mrs. Jennings.
