The Political Landscape: Doodle Notes on Chomsky

During the previous 10 to 15 years of GOP primaries, the establishment squelched the base-preferred candidates. In 2016 they failed to do that.

Over the last few decades the GOP had shifted very far right. Their voting base: Gun Lobby, Northern Catholics (Pro-life), Southern Racists, Evangelicals. Distance from the GOP voting base is the GOP constituency: Corporations and the extremely wealthy who they serve with preferential tax-cut legislation. Their motto, unofficially, is "We work for the rich and powerful then shaft everyone else."

Meanwhile, since the 1970s, the Democrats abandoned the working class. As they declined to deal with fundamental issues they essentially became moderate Republicans.

Unfortunately, regarding election interference, Russian meddling is oblique enough to be technically undetectable.

Meanwhile, it's important to note that campaign funding alone predicts electoral outcome.

Also, consider the 'interference' by Israel by Netanyahu who was invited to address Congress and, at that point, attacked Obama's foreign policy.
