The snowman in the photo above was made by me, my nephew Michael and his mother, my sister-in-law Aleksandra.
Christmas day was spent mostly at O'Hare Airport in Chicago! We were trying to get my sister-in-law, Mamar, on a flight back to Ottawa Canada to catch a connecting flight back to Iran.
Long story short: it was a marathon of negotiations with United Airline Staff. It took hours to convince them to allow her to board the return flight to Canada. This was due to a spiteful lower-level ticket associate's lack of understanding of Canada's immigration/visitors policies. Finally, a senior ranking United Airlines official came to the rescue! Only after two trips to the airport and several hours.
A additional tense moment came when, while rushing to the gate to catch the flight, the diminutive Mamar was flagged for full screening (wand detectors used in a glass room).
But all's well that ends well. We got to the gate, out of breath, and was able to relax for a few minutes because the flight crew was running late. And this was before the TSA!
After two day, our snowman collapsed, unfortunately. |
