I made this sketch of my dad when I was 17. He was 54. He passed away 16 years later in 1993. I think of my dad often. I'll remember things he use to say and the way he would say them --often with a twinkle in his eye. He had a dry sense of humor and a very caring heart.
My dad was a veteran of both WW II and the Korean War. It's funny that even tho' it's been nearly thirty years since he passed, I think of him with fondness almost every day.
Something will remind me of a viewpoint he had or an interest of his or some memory I have of him. He had a sweet humble nature even tho' he sometimes lost his temper with us kids at home. He did the best he could and let us know he loved us and was proud of us. I understand him more every day as my kids grow up and I relate to how he felt as a dad.
