Thoughts & life experiences of a Chicago area graphic artist

10 April 2004

Since I last posted an entry, there have been items in the news that were noteworthy. One of these is the death of British Academy Award-winning actor Peter Ustinov. I haven't seen a lot of Ustinov's movies but I enjoyed him the most as a voice actor. First in the Disney version of Robin Hood that was made in the late 60s (or early 70s) in which Ustinov performs the voice of the treacherous Prince John. He does such a memorably delightful job as the sniveling, selfish usurper. It was very fun to watch and to listen to his performance. The other performance that has a personal meaning to me was his reading of the audio version of C.S. Lewis' work. I only heard exerpts but I believe he did "Shadowlands" and perhaps "Mere Christianity". The BBC online news service has some informative reflections on Ustinov's life. He was a spokesman for UNICEF and an exceptionally thoughtful and kind person by all accounts. The passing of such a life should be noted.
