Starting a blog fills me with some dread and excitement. I sit here at my iMac while my daughter Melody (11) is reading to me from her latest copy of Nickelodeon Magazine. My other daughter, Emily (13) is working on her homework and listening to one of her favorite stations. I can't tell what station is from here. Melody is reading a list of real and made-up phobias..."triskaidekaphobia: fear of the number 13 ; Trisketphopia: fear of wheat crackers....". My wife, Shanaz, is watching "Wheel of Fortune" downstairs on TV.
Melody has just checked over my shoulder to see what I'm writing. She goes back to reading a creepy story from Nickelodeon.

The Nickolodeon Magazine discontinued in 2007 but it was a favorite around our house until then. |
Her reading is puctuated by "EEwww!" as she reads something about beetles eating a goose carcass. As far as I can tell, it's a science article written with an "edge".ˇ
Melody informs me that Emily is listening to "Bubbly Toes". She tells me so I can write it here.
So that's my first post. More later.
