In 2010, I signed on to help build a library of sketchbooks by creating my own and donating it to a collection that toured galleries across the country (and finally housed in a permanent public collection).
I'm one of many contributors to The Sketchbook Library sponsored by the Art House Museum in Brooklyn, NY. They sent me a sketchbook (with an assigned theme), I filled it up with art, and sent it back.

With the theme of "Elephant in the Room", my sketchbook was among thousands of others (with a variety of pre-chosen themes) that were made by artists from all over the world. I attended the group's event in Chicago of that year and have photos of the show here.

Visitors received library cards and were able to view the books at exhibitions around the country.

The goal of the project is to create a giant collective of sketchbooks from around the globe and make it accessible to everyone.

I've not entered anymore of the Art House Co Op's sketchbook projects and have since decided that there are more worthwhile projects on which to spend my time. But for what it's worth... You can see more of my sketchbook samples on my flickr site: here.
